PCB Tool Specialist

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You show AI systems how a professional PCB workflow actually runs. That means taking a design from schematic capture through PCB layout to manufacturing outputs in your own tool, running design-rule checks, verification and troubleshooting for performance and manufacturability, and writing up your design strategy, electrical reasoning and layout decisions. You also validate PCB designs and circuit simulations for correctness and clarity, and review AI-generated PCB advice and designs for mistakes.

It is the layout and manufacturing counterpart to the circuit-level Circuit Design Expert role. The work is remote, with calibration and review sessions.

Who fits

  • Expert-level, hands-on experience with a PCB tool (the ad names Altium Designer, KiCad, DesignSpark PCB and LibrePCB as examples)
  • A background as an electronics, hardware or PCB layout engineer
  • Experience with multi-layer boards and manufacturing packages (BOM, Gerber)
  • Clear written English
  • Preferred: high-speed digital or power-electronics design, published tutorials or open-source hardware designs, and experience mentoring others on EDA tools

No minimum years are stated.

What it pays

Rex.Zone's listing states "up to USD $125 per hour", adjusted by country of residence. There is no stated floor, so we have set only a maximum and cannot say what a typical engagement pays. The ad does not say how the country adjustment works, so the top figure may not apply where you live. Payment method and schedule are not published on the listing; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Any of four PCB tools qualifies, including free ones (KiCad, LibrePCB)
  • Documenting your own end-to-end workflow suits people who already work this way
  • No location restriction in the ad

Less good:

  • "Up to" pricing with no floor makes it hard to plan income
  • The bar is "expert-level", which is stated but not quantified in years
  • Export-controlled, military or defence-related data and employer-owned boards cannot be submitted, which rules out much real layout work
  • Weekly hours and task volume are not stated
