Skills
  • case management
  • discharge planning
  • utilization review
  • care coordination
  • clinical writing

What you'll do

You build the test material for AI models that are asked to reason about care coordination. That means writing realistic patient scenarios that run from admission through post-acute placement, writing reference answers that show why each level of care call is right, and grading a model's output for clinical appropriateness and benefit accuracy.

The part that makes this different from ordinary review work is the last task on the list: spotting plans that read fine but would strand a patient or trigger a denial. Anyone who has done discharge planning or utilization review will know the failure it describes, a plan that looks complete until the payer or the receiving facility says no.

Who fits

  • An active RN or LCSW license, or CCM certification
  • At least 2 years of case management in a hospital, payer or community setting
  • Depth in discharge planning, utilization review or complex care coordination
  • Clear written English; your reasoning has to be followable by another case manager
  • A firm commitment of at least 10 hours a week

Preferred: CCM or ACM certification, InterQual or MCG criteria experience, and payer-side utilization management or appeals work. The application form optionally asks you to upload a CCM certificate and a nursing license.

What it pays

The ad states $70 to $115 per hour, paid weekly via Stripe, with the rate set from your experience rather than negotiated down after you start. The board headlines $93/hr. Hours are fully async with no fixed schedule, there is a 10-hour weekly minimum and no maximum, and the ad says there is no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timer. It is independent contractor work, described as ongoing project work rather than single task batches.

How hiring works

The ad lists five steps: a five-minute application (resume plus a few structured questions), a resume review against a published rubric with a decision on every application, a possible written assessment, onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access) and a project match, usually within a week of onboarding.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A stated hourly band with weekly Stripe payment and no monitoring software
  • Work that uses case management judgment you already have, with no caseload or on-call
  • Hours you set each week, scaling up or down

Less good:

  • A 10-hour weekly minimum is a real commitment for someone with another job
  • You need a licence or certification, not just experience
  • The assessment is the gate for placement, and AfterQuery's help centre describes it as unpaid and single-attempt
