What you'll do
You turn compliance practice into test material for AI. The ad asks you to write questions and case studies on regulatory interpretation, risk assessment, policy development, audit procedures, reporting requirements, investigation processes and ethics programs, then to validate model responses with detailed feedback on accuracy and adherence to compliance best practice. A team of compliance and technical experts works with you on how hard each item should be.
This is the practical side of regulation rather than the courtroom side: monitoring, controls and process. A model that can quote a rule but cannot say what a compliance function would do next is the failure you are probing for.
Who fits
- Experience as a compliance officer, compliance manager or in regulatory compliance, with a working grasp of frameworks and processes (stated as required)
- A bachelor's degree in business, finance, law or a related field
- Strong analytical and written communication skills
- Preferred: several years across varied regulatory environments (financial services, healthcare, corporate), compliance training or policy work, certifications such as CRCM, CCEP or CAMS or an advanced degree (JD, MBA), and some familiarity with AI-driven compliance tools
The application form asks for an AML or compliance certification and marks it optional. No country is named.
What it pays
The board shows $75/hour and the ad gives no range, so that is the figure. The ad does not publish hours, volume or payment terms; the AfterQuery company page describes the payout cycle from the company's help centre.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Compliance experience is the qualification, and a JD is only a plus
- Certifications are welcome but optional
- Remote and asynchronous on your own schedule
Less good:
- The rate is well below AfterQuery's JD-only roles
- No hours or volume stated, so steady work is not promised
- AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification before project matching
