What you'll do
You read negotiation turns and the reference redline that goes with them, then judge the redline as a senior reviewer would: did it flag the right issues, take the right positions and make its edits surgically rather than rewriting the paragraph? You write that judgment up as clear, structured feedback on redline quality.
It is a quality-review job, not a drafting job. The skill is knowing what a competent commercial lawyer would leave alone as much as what they would change.
Who fits
- A US JD from an accredited US law school (required)
- 3+ years of hands-on negotiation and redlining of commercial contracts such as MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, and vendor or SaaS agreements, at a law firm, private company or municipality
- US-based practicing attorneys only; the ad says so twice
- Preferred: technology or SaaS agreement experience, a fast in-house or fractional GC or high-volume contracts setting, and active bar admission
The ad says attorneys on a career break or working flexibly are a good fit. It also says offers depend on a background check, and that people who meet at least 70% of the listed qualifications are encouraged to apply.
What it pays
The board shows $150/hour and the ad text gives no range, so that is the figure. The ad says the work is paid per task, so the hourly figure depends on how quickly you review. It does not publish its payment terms or weekly volume; the AfterQuery company page covers the payout cycle from the company's help centre.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A high stated rate for review work that uses skills you already have
- Fully remote and flexible enough to fit around a full-time role
- Suits attorneys on a career break
Less good:
- Per-task pay means the hourly figure is not guaranteed
- US JD, US residence and a background check make this narrow
- The ad does not say how much work is available
- AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification before project matching
