What you'll do
You author the scenarios and grade the model's attempts. The ad lists: realistic electrical engineering scenarios from requirements through design review, reference answers that include the engineering reasoning behind each decision, grading of model output for technical accuracy and standards compliance, and flagging designs that read plausible but would fail in practice.
Because the same job also covers testing, a reviewer who has lived through a board bring-up or a power system commissioning will notice failures that a design-only background may not, which is why the preferred list mentions experience across both design and testing.
Who fits
- A degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
- At least 2 years of professional electrical engineering experience
- Depth in at least one area; the ad names power systems, embedded hardware and circuit design
- Clear written English for documenting engineering reasoning
- Ability to commit at least 10 hours per week
Preferred: a PE license or FE certification, experience across both design and testing, and simulation tool depth (SPICE or MATLAB are named).
What it pays
The board headlines $113/hour. The ad's contract section states $100–125/hour, paid weekly via Stripe, with the rate set from your experience and not negotiated down after you start. The minimum is 10 hours per week with no maximum. The ad states no screen recording, no keystroke monitoring and no idle timers.
How hiring works
Per the ad: a five-minute application (resume plus structured questions), resume review against a published rubric with a decision for every applicant, a written assessment you may be asked to take for further placement, onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access), then a project match to live work in your specialty, usually within a week of onboarding.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Stated range, weekly payment and no monitoring software
- Fully remote and async, no fixed hours
- Ongoing project work rather than single task batches
Less good:
- The 10-hour weekly minimum is a firm commitment
- The top of the range is lower than AfterQuery's aerospace and chemical engineering ads ($130), so compare before applying if you span disciplines
- The ad does not say how many electrical projects are running
