What you'll do
This track is specifically for primary classrooms. You write realistic elementary scenarios from planning through assessment, then give the reference answer along with the developmental reasoning behind each choice: why this activity suits this age, why that explanation would lose a seven-year-old.
The other half is grading. You score model output for age appropriateness and instructional accuracy, and you flag activities that look engaging but teach nothing. Anyone who has watched a craft-heavy lesson fill a morning without moving a single reading skill will know exactly what the ad is asking for.
Who fits
- A teaching license or certification with a primary education endorsement
- At least 2 years teaching at the primary level
- Depth in early literacy and numeracy instruction
- Clear written English, so another teacher can follow your reasoning
Preferred: training in structured literacy or the science of reading, experience across several primary grades, and mentor teacher or team lead experience. The application form has an optional field for your teaching license or certification.
What it pays
The board headlines $50/hr; the ad's contract terms give $35 to $65/hr, recorded here as the range. The rate is set from experience and, per the ad, not negotiated down after you start. Payment is weekly via Stripe.
Other stated terms: fully remote and async with no fixed hours, a minimum of 10 hours per week with no maximum, no screen recording, no keystroke monitoring and no idle timers, as ongoing project work rather than single task batches.
How hiring works
Five steps are listed: a five-minute application (resume plus structured questions), a resume review against a published rubric with a decision on every application, a possible written assessment for further placement, onboarding with the contractor agreement and Stripe, and a project match that the ad says usually comes within a week of onboarding.
Worth knowing
Good:
- The range and weekly Stripe payment are in the ad, along with a no-monitoring promise
- Subject matter that primary teachers know better than almost anyone
- Hours scale up or down week to week above the minimum
Less good:
- A primary education endorsement is listed as required, so a general license may not be enough
- The 10 hour weekly floor is a commitment on top of teaching
- Your place in the $35 to $65 range depends on experience, and the ad does not explain the scoring
