  • writing instruction
  • literary analysis
  • composition feedback
  • rubric grading
  • lesson planning

What you'll do

The English track is built around feedback. You write reading and writing instruction scenarios across levels, and you write the model feedback on student writing that a strong teacher would give, with the reasoning behind it. That reference feedback is what AI output gets measured against.

Grading is the other half: you score model output for accuracy of literary analysis and quality of feedback, and flag feedback that sounds supportive but does not improve the writing. Anyone who has marked a stack of essays knows the difference between a comment that is kind and one that actually helps.

Who fits

  • A teaching license or certification with an English or language arts endorsement
  • At least 2 years teaching English in a classroom
  • Depth in writing instruction, literature and composition feedback
  • Clear written English, since you are modelling feedback that others will be compared with

Preferred: experience teaching advanced courses such as AP or IB, journalism, yearbook or creative writing advising, and experience teaching English learners. The application form asks what level you teach (required) and has an optional teaching license or certification field.

What it pays

The board headlines $50/hr; the ad's contract terms state $35 to $65/hr, which is the range recorded here. The ad says the rate is set from experience and not negotiated down after you start, and that payment is weekly via Stripe.

It also lists fully remote, fully async work with no fixed hours, a minimum of 10 hours a week with no maximum, and no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers. The work is ongoing project work, not single task batches.

How hiring works

The ad describes a short application (resume plus structured questions), a resume review against a published rubric with a decision for every applicant, a possible written assessment for further placement, onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access) and a project match usually within a week of onboarding.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Work that rewards the part of English teaching that is hardest to automate: useful feedback on real writing
  • Pay range, weekly payment and no-monitoring terms are all written in the ad
  • Scalable hours above a 10 hour weekly minimum

Less good:

  • An English or language arts endorsement is listed as required
  • A weekly minimum of 10 hours is sizeable next to a full teaching load
  • The ad does not say how your experience maps onto the $35 to $65 range
