What you'll do

This is AfterQuery's broad finance bench, aimed at working practitioners rather than students. You write out how you would handle a problem you meet with clients every week (building a financial plan, preparing an individual return, restructuring debt, assessing a retirement position), then review how an AI model handles the same scenario and mark where its reasoning breaks down.

The ad names the kinds of people it wants: financial advisors, wealth managers and paraplanners; CPAs, tax managers, tax preparers and enrolled agents; retirement and estate planning specialists; corporate finance, FP&A and controllers; consumer banking, lending and credit professionals; and insurance and annuities specialists. Your reviews target miscalculated figures, wrong assumptions and incorrect guidance.

Work is remote and scheduled around you, with no cap on volume. Task criteria and support arrive in the project chat after onboarding.

Who fits

  • Four or more years of hands-on professional experience in finance or accounting
  • A completed bachelor's degree or higher
  • Authorisation to work in the United States without sponsorship (a work-authorisation condition, not a residence rule, so no country is set on this listing)
  • Clear written English and the ability to explain your reasoning in writing

What it pays

The ad says $100 to $200 per hour depending on specialisation and experience, while the board headlines $175. This listing records the stated $100–200 range. The ad does not publish payment terms such as schedule or method; the AfterQuery company page explains the usual Stripe payout cycle.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • One of the higher bands among AfterQuery finance listings
  • Open to many sub-specialisms in one posting, so a tax manager and an FP&A lead both qualify
  • An ongoing project with continuing volume, not a one-off engagement
  • Your professional judgment is the product, rather than generic online tasks

Less good:

  • US work authorisation without sponsorship is required, which excludes visa holders who need sponsorship
  • Where you sit in the $100–200 band depends on specialisation and experience, and the ad does not say how it is set
  • Because the pool is broad, matching to a project is not guaranteed
  • AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification before matching
