What you'll do
AfterQuery wants forensic accountants to build scenarios that test whether an AI model can handle fraud investigation and litigation support, then check the model's answers and explain what it got wrong.
Topics named in the ad include fraud detection, financial statement analysis, asset tracing, damages calculations, interviewing techniques, evidence gathering and expert report writing. Feedback is held to forensic accounting standards, and you work with other forensic and technical experts to tune question difficulty.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Proven experience in forensic accounting, fraud examination or litigation support, with command of investigative techniques and financial analysis
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: several years across varied case types (fraud investigations, economic damages, expert witness testimony, bankruptcy), forensic training or association involvement, a CPA, CFE or CFF credential or a master's, and familiarity with AI-driven investigative tools
The application form asks for your CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner credentials, both optional.
What it pays
The board shows $113/hour with no range in the text, so this listing records $113 as a single figure. The ad does not publish payment terms; see the AfterQuery company page. For a related role with a published range and weekly terms, see AfterQuery's Fraud Investigator Expert listing.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rare niche where practitioner depth is clearly the point
- Credentials are optional, so experience can stand in for a CPA or CFE
- Remote and asynchronous
Less good:
- The ad does not state hours, volume or pay structure
- The title on the board contains a typo ("Accountanting"), kept here to match the original posting
- AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification
