What you'll do
This is the older, longer-running Education posting, and it reads differently from the subject-specific teacher listings. Instead of scenario-and-grade work, it describes educational content creation: detailed grading rubrics for assignments, essays, problem sets and multi-step reasoning tasks; exemplar student responses at several proficiency levels with structured feedback; short research briefs on common misconceptions, cognitive scaffolds and teaching strategies; and instructional materials such as guided inquiry sequences, reading comprehension tasks and problem-solving breakdowns.
You also evaluate model outputs and flag problems with reasoning, structure, clarity or pedagogy. The ad frames the purpose as training AI models to reason more like expert educators.
Who fits
- A strong understanding of rubric design, assessment standards and high school pedagogy
- At least 2 years of teaching, tutoring or curriculum development at the high school level
- Experience evaluating student work and giving reasoning-based feedback
- Interest in supporting AI educational tools
Notably, the ad accepts tutoring or curriculum development as well as classroom teaching, and does not list a teaching license as required (the form has an optional field for one). Preferred: AP or IB curriculum design, a degree in education, English, math, science, history or a related field, and instructional design, literacy development or competition coaching in debate, math or writing.
What it pays
The board headlines $55/hr. The ad's own text says a minimum of $40 an hour, with top rates exceeding $120 an hour, so the pay range here is recorded as $40 to $120 and the true top end may be higher. The ad does not say what decides where you land.
It does not publish payment terms such as payout schedule, so see the company page for how AfterQuery pays contractors. Time commitment is described as about 10 hours a week when projects are active, asynchronous and flexible.
Worth knowing
Good:
- The widest stated range on the Education board, with top rates above $120/hr
- Tutors and curriculum developers can qualify, not only classroom teachers
- Flexible, remote and asynchronous
Less good:
- Work is project-based and tied to when projects are active, so hours are not guaranteed
- The ad is short on hiring steps and payment terms, so you will need the company page and the application itself for those
- The listing has been up since November 2025, and there is no sign of how many people it is open to
About this listing
Read from the AfterQuery Experts board on 18 October 2026; the board dates the posting to 17 November 2025 and it was still open on that read. No country of residence is required. AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and identity verification; the company page covers it. See AfterQuery.
