What you'll do

You build evaluation data for frontier AI models from clinical interpreting experience. That means writing realistic scenarios (from intake visits to informed consent conversations), producing reference interpretations with the terminology and register choices explained, and grading model output in both working languages for accuracy, completeness and clinical register. You also flag renderings that read fluently but change the clinical meaning, the error that can matter most in healthcare.

Who qualifies

  • CMI or CHI certification, or an equivalent medical interpreter credential
  • 2+ years interpreting in clinical settings
  • Full professional command of medical terminology in both working languages
  • Clear written English to document decisions
  • At least 10 hours a week

Preferred: high-stakes settings such as oncology, emergency or informed consent; telephonic and video remote interpreting; and sight translation of medical documents. The form asks for your language pair or pairs and has optional fields for NBCMI / CMI and CCHI credentials. The ad sets no country requirement.

What it pays

$55 to $95/hr per the ad text, rate set from experience and not negotiated down later, paid weekly via Stripe. The board headlines $75/hr. The sibling Court Interpreter Expert role pays $5 more at each end of its range.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Remote and async with no fixed hours; no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers
  • Ongoing work with no maximum hours
  • Rewards credentialed experience

Less good:

  • 10 hours a week minimum
  • Certification and clinical experience are required
  • Hiring involves resume review and possibly a written assessment before project matching

Process per the ad: apply (about five minutes), resume review against a published rubric, a possible written assessment, onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access), then matching to live work, usually within a week of onboarding.
