Skills
  • pharmacy workflow
  • sig interpretation
  • insurance adjudication
  • dosing calculations
  • scenario writing

What you'll do

This is the workflow end of pharmacy, not the pharmacology end. You write realistic prescription processing and insurance adjudication scenarios, then write reference answers that show the correct order of steps, not only the final state. You also grade model output for dosing arithmetic, sig interpretation and safety flags, and catch answers that would fail in a real pharmacy queue.

The ad's own line is the clearest summary: a model can define a DUR rejection, but workflow judgment that is accurate, safe and in the right order is the product.

Who fits

  • Active CPhT (PTCB or NHA) or state pharmacy technician registration
  • 2+ years in a retail, hospital or specialty pharmacy
  • Working knowledge of sig codes, NDCs, days supply maths and insurance adjudication
  • Clear written English, enough to document a workflow for someone else to follow
  • Able to commit at least 10 hours a week

Preferred: sterile or nonsterile compounding (USP 797/800), specialty or mail order pharmacy with prior authorisation work, and software fluency (Epic Willow, PioneerRx or similar). The application form asks for a pharmacy technician certificate, marked optional.

What it pays

The board headlines $55/hr, while the ad text states a range of $45 to $65/hr, set from your experience and paid weekly via Stripe. AfterQuery says the rate is not negotiated down after you start.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Uses technician-level skills that few AI projects pay for
  • Fully remote and async, no fixed hours, no maximum hours
  • The ad states no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers
  • Ongoing project work rather than single task batches

Less good:

  • A 10 hours a week minimum, so it is not a casual side task
  • The lowest band in this medical group, and the board figure sits near the middle of the range
  • A possible written assessment, and AfterQuery's help centre describes assessments as unpaid and single-attempt
  • Contractor status: no benefits, your own tax to manage
