What you'll do
You turn service-call experience into evaluation material. The ad describes four jobs: author realistic plumbing scenarios from symptom through diagnosis and repair; write reference answers that carry the reasoning (why that venting, why that slope, which code section); grade model output for code compliance, safety and workmanship; and flag advice that sounds plausible but would flood a basement or contaminate a water line.
That last one is the heart of it. A model can sound confident about a trap or a vent, and only someone who has done the work catches the miss. Everything is typed, done from home, with no tools or job site involved.
Who fits
- An active journeyman or master plumber license in a US state or jurisdiction
- At least two years of field work beyond apprenticeship
- Working command of plumbing codes such as UPC or IPC
- Clear written English, since you document diagnostic reasoning
- Able to commit at least 10 hours a week
Residential service, commercial and new construction plumbers are all welcome. Preferred: a master or contractor license, commercial, medical gas or backflow depth, and estimating, inspection or apprentice training experience. The application form asks for a plumber license (journeyman or master), marked optional.
What it pays
The ad's contract section states $50 to $90/hour, paid weekly via Stripe, with the rate set from your experience rather than negotiated down after you start. The board headlines $70/hour. This listing records the full $50 to $90 range.
Terms in the ad: fully remote and async with no fixed hours, a minimum of 10 hours a week and no maximum, no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers, independent contractor status, and ongoing project work rather than single task batches.
How hiring works
About five minutes to apply with a resume and a few structured questions. Every application is read against a published rubric and gets a decision. You may be asked to take a written assessment for further placement. Onboarding means signing the contractor agreement, connecting Stripe and getting platform access, and the ad says you are usually matched to live work in your specialty within a week of onboarding.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rate range set from your experience, paid weekly
- No monitoring software and no fixed hours
- Trade licence knowledge is the qualification, not a degree
Less good:
- A US license is required, so this is closed to plumbers licensed elsewhere
- The 10 hour weekly minimum is a real commitment alongside field work
- The board figure ($70) sits below the top of the range ($90); where you land depends on your experience
- The assessment is described only as possible, with no detail on its length or pay
