What you'll do
You write product analytics problems based on decisions you make at work, covering experiments, metrics, retention and growth, and then work each one to a reference answer that AI labs use to test model judgment. The ad adds that you should catch the analysis mistakes that look reasonable but that only a practitioner would notice, with the reasoning shown for every step.
This is writing and solving analytical problems rather than running live experiments for a business, so the day-to-day is closer to authoring case studies with answer keys.
Who fits
- 3+ years full time as a data scientist or product analyst on a product team; internships and school do not count
- Hands-on experience designing or analyzing A/B tests
- Strong SQL, Python and applied statistics
- Strong written English and the ability to explain an analysis clearly
- Able to commit at least 10 hours per week
- Preferred: a Master's degree in a quantitative field; experience defining product metrics or modeling retention and lifetime value
What it pays
The board shows $115/hr and the ad text gives no range, so that is the figure recorded here. The ad says pay is weekly via Stripe, with ongoing project work.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Independent contractor work that is fully async with no fixed hours, a minimum of 10 hours per week and no maximum
- The ad states there is no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers
- Pay is weekly via Stripe, and the work stays in your specialty
Less good:
- The 3 year product-team requirement is firm, and only full-time experience counts
- A 10 hour weekly minimum applies
- The ad does not describe the hiring steps; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and identity verification (see the company page)
