What you'll do
You write retail and wholesale questions and case studies that challenge AI models, then check the models' answers. The ad lists inventory management, pricing strategy, customer service, merchandising, vendor negotiation, sales forecasting and loss prevention as example topics, and says there are more. You give detailed feedback on whether a model's response is accurate and follows retail and wholesale best practice, and you work with a team of retail and technical experts to tune how hard each question is.
This is a less structured ad than the newer AfterQuery listings: it describes the job in general terms and does not break out a deliverable list or a weekly hours minimum.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in business, retail management, marketing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience in retail sales, wholesale distribution, merchandising or store operations, with a solid grasp of sales channels and business models
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail
Preferred: multiple years across diverse product categories and market segments (brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, B2B), involvement in buyer and vendor relations, industry publications or retail technology, and experience in retail management, buying, category management or supply chain.
What it pays
The board shows $95/hr. The ad text states no range, so the listing uses that single figure. The ad does not say how or when you are paid, or how many hours a week to expect. AfterQuery's help centre describes the payment side; see the company page below.
How the process works
The ad does not describe its hiring steps. AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment per expert pool and ID verification before onboarding; details are on the AfterQuery company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Remote, flexible and asynchronous, per the ad
- Uses practical retail and wholesale experience, and a degree is not strictly required if you have equivalent experience
- The ad describes the company as Y Combinator-backed
Less good:
- No hours, payment terms or process are published in this ad
- Work is evaluation and case writing rather than selling, so it suits people comfortable writing and critiquing in detail
- Independent contractor status is not spelled out in the ad; check the contract terms during onboarding
