What you'll do

You record Japanese voice content, review audio samples from other speakers, and check spoken recordings against the text they are supposed to follow. The listing names four criteria: accuracy, clarity, naturalness and alignment with the project guidelines.

Japanese makes the text side of this harder than it looks. A single written line can often be read more than one way (kanji with several readings, names, numbers and counters, loanwords), so checking a recording against its script means knowing which reading a native speaker would choose in context, not just whether the syllables match. Pitch accent, the politeness level of the phrasing and whether a line sounds like natural spoken Japanese or like translated text all fall under the "phrasing, tone and cultural nuance" the listing asks you to understand.

The listing does not say what the recordings will train, whether scripts are read or spoken freely, or how many hours of work are available.

Who fits

  • Native-level Japanese
  • Strong familiarity with Japanese as used in Japan (the listing names no regional dialect requirement)
  • A clear speaking voice and a careful ear for pronunciation and phrasing errors
  • Comfort following detailed project guidelines

No degree, years of experience or AI background is required by the text. It does not mention recording equipment; plan on a quiet room and a decent microphone.

What it pays

$17.00 an hour, one fixed rate. Every listing in Invisible's voice and audio family that we read pays the same, so there is no premium for Japanese despite it being a harder language to staff outside Japan. The contract terms on the listing say payment is issued weekly via Stripe or Wise, and that Invisible cannot support H-1B or STEM OPT contractors.

Onboarding is two steps: upload your résumé (about 5 minutes), then unlock paid projects (about 30 minutes, an unpaid qualification).

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A clear, single-language brief (unlike the French text and audio listing, whose wording mixes in Japanese)
  • Fully remote and on your own schedule
  • Weekly Stripe or Wise payment named in the terms
  • Quick onboarding by the listing's estimate

Less good:

  • $17 an hour is low by Japanese market standards for skilled language work
  • About 30 minutes of unpaid qualification before paid projects
  • No guaranteed volume; projects can be shortened or ended early
  • No detail on the end use of the recordings or on session length
  • No H-1B or STEM OPT contractors

About this listing

Read on Invisible's Meridial marketplace on 26 September 2026, posted about three months before we read it. The rate, requirements, onboarding steps and payment terms are the listing's own; the notes on Japanese readings and pitch accent are ours. Invisible's French Text and Audio Evaluation Expert listing shares this template. See Invisible Technologies.
