What you'll do
Administrative services is the work nobody notices until it breaks: the procurement process, the records retention schedule, the move plan for a new floor. AI models are now being asked to draft exactly those things, and this project pays experienced administrative managers to say whether the drafts would survive contact with a real organisation.
You review administrative artifacts the models produce:
- Office operations plans
- Facilities and vendor management documents
- Records-management procedures
You also work through scenarios on budgeting, procurement, space planning, support-services staffing and process improvement. Much of it is comparative: two AI responses side by side, judged on operational soundness, policy compliance and cost-effectiveness, with written feedback explaining your call. The cost dimension is the one to lean on; a plan that is compliant but quietly doubles the facilities budget is a failure the models need to learn from.
Who fits
- 4+ years as an administrative services manager, office manager, facilities manager, administrative director, business operations manager or similar
- Hands-on experience running supportive services: recordkeeping, mail distribution, facilities planning and maintenance, procurement and other office support
- Strong written English
- 20+ hours a week available
This suits generalist operations people whose experience spans several of those areas better than a narrow specialist; the scenarios range across all of them.
What it pays and how payment starts
$70–110 per hour, Mercor's published band. The first task is paid on approval; finish it within the required timeline and you move to hourly pay for the remainder of the project. The ad does not publish that timeline or what places you within the band.
Payments are weekly via Stripe or Wise. H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported.
This listing shares its template, rate and terms with Mercor's Property, Real Estate, and Community Association Managers role posted the same day; facilities managers with building operations experience may fit either.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rate well above typical office management pay, for skills that rarely get AI evaluation work
- Immediate start, with a broad set of qualifying job titles
- Weekly payment terms are stated
Less good:
- US residents only
- 20+ hours a week over roughly 4 to 6 weeks is hard to fit beside a full-time role
- Hourly pay only kicks in after a first task approved within an unstated deadline
- Short engagement with no extension promised; independent contractor terms
