What you'll do
This is the European counterpart to Mercor's Generalist Expert (US/Canada) listing, at the same pay band. The job is reviewing ordinary professional work product (documents, slide decks, spreadsheets and other written material) the way a careful colleague or manager would.
The ad lists four activities:
- Evaluating materials for quality, correctness, clarity and completeness
- Writing well-reasoned feedback and giving ratings
- Comparing and ranking AI-generated outputs against defined criteria
- Flagging errors, inconsistencies, and gaps in reasoning or formatting
The point is to shape how AI systems produce real-world office work, so what matters is whether you notice the table that does not add up, the slide that contradicts the memo, or the summary that leaves out an important caveat.
Who qualifies
- A bachelor's degree, stated as the minimum
- Based in the UK or Europe
- Excellent reading comprehension and written English
- Attention to detail and sound judgment across varied subject matter
- Comfort working independently in docs, slides and sheets
No prior AI or machine-learning experience is needed; Mercor provides the guidelines. English is the working language, so being based in, say, Germany or Spain is fine as long as your written English is strong. The ad does not define "Europe" (for example whether non-EU countries such as Switzerland or Norway count), so if you are on the edge, check before investing time in the application.
What it pays
$50–70 per hour, Mercor's published figure and identical to the US/Canada version. For European applicants that is a strong hourly rate for generalist review work, though it is paid in USD, so your local-currency income moves with the exchange rate. Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise.
The ad gives no weekly hours or project length.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No specialism or AI experience needed; judgment and careful reading are the bar
- USD pay at the same rate as the North American version
- Weekly payment on Stripe or Wise
- Fully remote and on your own schedule
Less good:
- A bachelor's degree is a hard minimum
- "Europe" is not defined in the ad
- No stated hours or project length, so income is not predictable
- Paid in USD, which adds currency conversion costs and exposure
- H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded (mostly irrelevant for European residents, but stated)
- Independent contractor: projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
