What you'll do

Tools like Glean, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Workday Assistant are increasingly the first place employees ask HR questions. This project tests whether those answers deserve the trust they get. You put HR questions from your own specialism to enterprise search and workplace AI tools, then grade the answers on four things the ad names:

  • Grounding: is the answer tied to real sources, and are they cited correctly
  • Permissions: does the result respect what that particular user is allowed to see
  • Freshness: is the tool surfacing stale policy or conflicting versions across knowledge bases
  • Root cause: when it fails, was it a retrieval miss (wrong or no document found) or a reasoning error (right document, wrong conclusion)

The title says knowledge management, but read the requirements: this is an HR evaluation role. The permissions check is where HR practitioners earn their rate, because an assistant quoting a compensation band or an investigation policy to the wrong employee is exactly the failure an outsider would not spot.

Who fits

The bar is specific, and several conditions stack:

  • 5+ years of active HR practice, with real depth in one HR domain
  • Currently in an HR, People Ops, Payroll or HR Systems role at a technology company (software, SaaS, internet, hardware, semiconductors or similar)
  • Regular hands-on use of at least one enterprise search or workplace AI assistant, for example Glean, Workday Assistant, Sana, Microsoft 365 Copilot or SharePoint search, Guru, Coveo, Moveworks or ServiceNow AI Search
  • End-user experience of Workday HCM, not configuration-only training
  • Not primarily a power user or administrator of only Sana or only Glean

Preferred: having owned or curated HR knowledge content (policy pages, help-centre articles, FAQ libraries) in Confluence, ServiceNow KB, Workday Help or similar; active practice rather than consulting; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR; Workday Pro certifications.

The "currently employed at a tech company" clause rules out recent leavers and HR consultants as primary candidates, so check it honestly before applying.

What it pays

$70–90 per hour, Mercor's published band; the ad does not say what sets your place in it. Payment is weekly via Stripe or Wise. H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported. No weekly hours or project length are stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A solid rate for HR expertise, a field that rarely gets AI evaluation work at this level
  • The work uses tools you probably already use daily
  • Curating HR knowledge content counts in your favour, which suits HRIS and People Ops specialists
  • Weekly payment terms are published

Less good:

  • Residence limited to the United States or Canada
  • You must currently work in HR at a tech company, which excludes many otherwise strong candidates
  • Workday HCM end-user experience is a hard requirement
  • No hours, duration or placement criteria within the band are published
  • Independent contractor; your employer's internal content is off limits, so keep the work separate from your day job
