Music & Lyrics Expert - Thai

What you'll do

This is the words side of Mercor's generative music evaluation project, and a sister role to the Thai Music Production Expert listing. Instead of judging mixes, you judge lyrics:

• Similarity checks: compare AI-generated lyrics against published songs and flag where they come too close, a question of originality and potential copying
• Rating: score lyrics on quality, creativity, prompt adherence and originality
• Naturalness: decide whether the language sounds like real Thai songwriting, including word choice, slang and regional expressions

That last point is where a native Thai songwriter earns their place. Thai lyrics rely on rhyme schemes, wordplay and register shifts (Isan dialect in mor lam, colloquial Bangkok slang in T-pop, formal vocabulary in ballads) that a model can imitate on the surface while missing entirely. The similarity task also rewards people who actually know the Thai catalogue well enough to recognise a borrowed line.

Who fits

• Native or near-native Thai, and able to follow detailed English instructions
• Experience as a songwriter, lyricist, performer, composer or music journalist, with knowledge of the Thai music scene
• Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening

Nice to have: formal music training, credited or published songwriting, and broad familiarity with contemporary Thai genres and artists.

No minimum years are stated, which makes this more accessible than the production variant (which asks for 2+ years). A Bilingual Competency Interview in Thai is part of the application.

What it pays

$18 per hour, the same as the Thai production role. Mercor may move the project to per-task pay; if so, the effective hourly rate is meant to stay the same.

Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise. H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are excluded.

Commitment

Immediate start, up to six months. Flexible hours with most experts around 20 a week and no upper limit.
