What you'll do

A healthcare AI partner is building clinical documentation and decision-support tools, and it needs the people those tools are meant to serve to check them. You read clinical notes, encounter summaries and EHR documentation, then hold AI-generated versions up against the note a working PCP would actually write.

The work falls into three parts:

  • Documentation review: judging notes and summaries for accuracy, completeness and clinical soundness
  • Annotation and feedback: annotating encounter data against detailed guidelines, flagging hallucinations, omissions, inaccuracies and documentation gaps, and writing structured feedback engineers and product teams can act on
  • Guideline input: contributing to annotation guidelines, documentation standards and edge-case definitions, and raising questions where the guidance is ambiguous

What the ad does not say outright: the hardest errors to catch in AI notes are rarely the invented ones. They are the plausible summary that drops the one finding that changed your plan, or the note that documents a counselling conversation that never happened. Spotting those quickly is exactly the instinct a busy clinic builds, which is why the brief asks for physicians currently in practice rather than anyone with an MD.

Who fits

  • MD with 2+ years of post-residency experience
  • Currently practising primary care, family medicine or general internal medicine
  • Based in the United States
  • Available for at least 10 hours a week through mid-November

Preferred: prior AI or ML annotation or model evaluation work with strong performance reviews.

The bar is "currently practising", so physicians who have stepped away from clinic, or who trained in primary care but now work in another setting, do not meet it as written. The ad names MD only; it does not mention DO.

What it pays

$170 per hour, a flat published figure. At the 10-hour minimum that is about $1,700 a week before tax. Mercor's multilingual version of this role pays $170–190, so the second language is what buys the upper end there.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, and you are engaged as an independent contractor. Mercor cannot support H-1B or STEM OPT candidates.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • $170/hour flat, with no band to land at the bottom of
  • A 10-hour weekly minimum fits alongside a clinical schedule
  • The work maps directly onto what you already document every day
  • You help shape the guidelines, not just follow them
  • Fully remote, on your own schedule

Less good:

  • A short window: the commitment runs through mid-November, with nothing published about what follows
  • Current practice is required, so recently retired or non-clinical physicians are out
  • US-based only, and H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded
  • The client is not named and the volume of notes per hour is not stated
  • Contractor engagement; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early

About this listing

Posted by Mercor as an hourly remote contract restricted to the United States, on behalf of an unnamed healthcare AI partner. The $170 rate, the 10-hour minimum and the qualifications are the ad's own. Mercor states the work involves no confidential information from any employer or institution. See Mercor.
