What you'll do

The work is outpatient documentation, seen through a primary care lens. You review clinical notes, encounter summaries and EHR documentation for accuracy, completeness and clinical soundness, and you evaluate AI-generated notes against the note a practising PCP would really write: the problems that actually get addressed in a short visit, the preventive items that belong in the plan, and the detail a generalist would not bother to chart.

You also annotate encounter data to detailed guidelines, flag omissions, hallucinations, inaccuracies and gaps in AI output, and write structured feedback engineers and product teams can use. There is a guideline-shaping component too: expert input on documentation standards and edge-case definitions, and raising questions where the guidance is unclear.

The partner is an unnamed healthcare AI company building clinical documentation and decision-support tools.

The language requirement

Beyond English you need advanced (C1 or above) speaking, listening and writing in at least one of: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Russian, Haitian Creole, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Turkish, Italian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Finnish, French, Danish, Catalan, Hungarian, Czech, German, Bulgarian, Indonesian or Dutch.

This list is far broader than Mercor's sister outpatient physician listing, which accepted only six languages. The top of the list reads like the languages US primary care patients most often speak, so a PCP who already sees Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog or Haitian Creole speaking patients has a direct fit. Having documented care in that language is listed as preferred; conversational fluency without clinical vocabulary is a weaker claim, so be accurate.

Who fits

  • MD with 2+ years post-residency, currently practising primary care, family medicine or general internal medicine
  • US-based
  • Direct experience writing outpatient clinical notes
  • C1 or above in one of the languages listed above
  • At least 10 hours a week

Preferred: 5+ years post-residency, Epic familiarity, documentation quality review, note auditing or CDI exposure, prior AI annotation or model evaluation with strong reviews, and experience documenting care in a non-English language.

What it pays

$170–190 per hour, the same band as the specialist outpatient listing. The inpatient hospitalist variant pays a flat $170, the bottom of this band. At 10 hours a week that is roughly $1,700–1,900 weekly. Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, as an independent contractor.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • $170–190/hour on a tight $20 band
  • 25 accepted languages, so most bilingual PCPs qualify
  • 10 hours a week, explicitly built around an active practice
  • No prior AI experience required
  • You help write the guidelines as well as apply them

Less good:

  • You must be currently practising, so retired or non-clinical physicians are out
  • MD is stated; DO is not mentioned in this ad, so check before applying if that is your degree
  • US-based only; H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported
  • Contractor engagement; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • The AI partner is not named
