What you'll do

This is the broadest of micro1's accounting listings. The scope reads like an occupational definition of the profession: examining and interpreting accounting records, preparing and auditing financial statements, evaluating statements prepared by others for accuracy and regulatory compliance, and installing, reviewing or advising on systems for recording costs and budget data.

All of that is pointed at AI training data. You apply your knowledge of economics, accounting principles and taxation to datasets meant to teach a model how financial documentation and processes actually work, and you write up findings clearly. The ad does not describe a rubric, a grading tool or a task format, so expect the specific workflow to be explained during onboarding.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of economics, accounting, law, government regulation and taxation
  • Substantial experience preparing and auditing financial statements
  • A solid grasp of cost accounting and budgetary controls
  • Clear written and verbal communication on technical material
  • Holding, or having held, one of these titles: Certified Public Accountant, Cost Accountant, Financial Auditor, General Accountant, Internal Auditor, or Revenue Tax Specialist

The title list is the main filter. It is broad (general accountants and internal auditors qualify alongside CPAs), but it is phrased as a requirement, so a finance background without one of those titles is unlikely to pass.

Nice to have

  • An advanced certification such as CPA, CMA or CIA, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience advising on or implementing financial systems and controls
  • A track record of explaining accounting concepts to non-specialists

What it pays

$40–95/hour. That is a wide band, more than double from bottom to top, and the ad gives no basis for placement. A CPA or CIA with audit experience would reasonably expect the upper half; a general accountant should plan around the floor until an offer says otherwise. No compensation structure is stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • The accepted title list is wide, including cost, general and internal audit roles
  • The top of the band is competitive for accounting contract work
  • No prior AI experience needed

Less good:

  • Only one opening, despite the high-demand badge, so competition per seat is high
  • A $55-wide band with no stated basis for placement
  • The scope is generic and does not describe the actual task format
  • No weekly hours, project length or compensation structure published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage

About this listing

Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal and read on 24 September 2026. The $40–95/hour band, the single opening, the degree requirement and the accepted title list are its own published text. Its qualification list is the same one micro1 uses on its US-only Senior Accountant Expert listing, which pays $60–120 and adds a data-labelling experience line; this one carries no location restriction. Location is given only as remote, so eligibility is left open. Payment terms and schedule are not published on the listing. See micro1.
