What you'll do
The project is capturing how finance professionals actually work inside Bloomberg. You complete realistic tasks on the Terminal and related Bloomberg tools: researching companies and securities, pulling market data, running security and financial analysis, and looking at portfolios. Each workflow gets written up step by step so someone else (and ultimately a model) can follow the path you took.
Alongside that, you check financial information for errors, gaps and inconsistencies, and you create realistic scenarios drawn from professional workflows. The work is independent and asynchronous, handed in against project guidelines.
In practice this rewards people who know the function codes and screens by habit. Knowing finance in general is not enough on its own; the ad is specific that you should navigate Bloomberg without help.
Who fits
- Strong hands-on Bloomberg Terminal experience, from professional or academic finance
- A background in investment management, banking, markets, equity research, asset management or a related field
- Experience analysing equities, fixed income, securities, market data or portfolios
- Independent use of Bloomberg's common functions and workflows
- Fluency in financial terminology and the ability to explain what the data shows
- Attention to detail and a willingness to follow project instructions closely
The ad accepts academic Bloomberg use as well as professional, which opens the door to finance graduate students and researchers with real Terminal time. No minimum years, certification or AI experience is stated.
What it pays
$90–170/hour, micro1's published band. It matches micro1's QuickBooks Specialist listing at $90–170/hour exactly and sits just under the Procore specialist role posted the same day at $90–175. The ad does not say what places you within the band, and no weekly hours or project length are published.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A high floor for software-workflow work, and academic Terminal experience counts
- 40 openings with a high-demand badge
- No certification, minimum years or AI background required
Less good:
- The ad does not say whose Bloomberg access you use. A Terminal licence is expensive and tied to an individual; if the expectation is that you work on your employer's or university's seat, check that your licence terms allow it before you start
- Documenting each step is slower than simply doing the research
- No hours, project duration or placement criteria for the band are published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
