What you'll do
The scope reads almost word for word like micro1's Autodesk Fusion CAM Expert listing: give expert feedback on manufacturing processes, review and refine AI-generated recommendations about manufacturing workflows, and develop and validate rubrics for judging process accuracy and efficiency. What changes is who they want doing it and how.
Here the entry point is any CAD platform (Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Onshape, Inventor, CATIA and Creo are all named), with CAM and CNC experience welcome rather than central. And the ad says plainly that this is "a very coding heavy role" in which candidates must already use coding agents with Python in their workflow. Expect to script checks, drive tools programmatically, or evaluate AI output that is itself code, alongside any prose feedback.
Hours are set at 15–20 a week on a fully flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends if you want them.
Who fits
Required:
- Hands-on experience with any CAD platform
- Clear, detailed written and verbal communication
Preferred:
- Autodesk tools, especially Fusion 360 or AutoCAD
- Coding agents and Python (the ad treats this as expected in practice despite listing it as preferred)
- CAM, CNC machining or digital manufacturing background
- Comfort with AI tools (LLMs, generative design, AI-assisted workflows) and evaluating their output
- Experience building or applying process evaluation rubrics
What it pays
$80–150/hour as the published band, on output-based terms: payment per task that meets the project specification, minimum submission requirements, and a weekly minimum number of tasks that the ad does not quantify. That is $20–30 above the Fusion CAM listing at both ends, which looks like the premium for the coding requirement.
Worth knowing
Good:
- The highest band among micro1's CAD and manufacturing listings read on this date
- A low formal bar: any CAD platform counts
- Open worldwide, with defined, flexible hours
- 50 openings, flagged as high demand
- Hiring route published: screening questions, an AI interview of about 30 minutes, then a hiring manager review
Less good:
- The coding-agent expectation will rule out many traditional CAD users
- Per-task pay with an unquantified weekly minimum
- Fast start expected: roles fill within about 48 hours and first tasks begin 24–48 hours after onboarding
- Contractor engagement with no benefits; payment schedule and method are not stated
