What you'll do
The AI being trained here is presumably meant to act as a support desk, and you supply the reasoning a good Tier 2 or 3 engineer applies. You work through hardware, software and network problems (TCP/IP, VPN and DNS issues are named, across Windows, macOS and Linux), resolve them using standard practice, and document each step, solution and user interaction in a ticketing system.
The documentation is the product. A ticket that says "reset network stack, resolved" teaches a model nothing; one that records what the user reported, what you ruled out, the command that confirmed a stale DNS cache and why you checked the VPN split tunnel first does. Expect to write the second kind.
You also look across tickets for recurring patterns and suggest process improvements, and you explain technical concepts in plain language, since user-friendly explanation is one of the stated preferences.
Who fits
All listed as preferred:
- At least 3 years of Tier 2/3 IT support
- Hardware and software fault-finding across varied platforms
- Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPN and DNS troubleshooting
- Ticketing systems and disciplined documentation
- Clear, user-friendly written and verbal explanations
- CompTIA A+, Network+ or ITIL are advantages, not requirements
- Independent, well-prioritised remote work
No country requirement is stated.
What it pays
$30–55/hour, micro1's published band. That compares well with many Tier 2 helpdesk salaries once converted to hourly, though as a contractor you carry your own costs. No compensation structure, weekly hours or project length is stated.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 50 openings, flagged as high demand
- Certifications help but are not required
- No AI background needed; ticket-writing discipline is the real skill
- Remote, with no country list
Less good:
- No hours, duration or hiring steps published
- Unclear whether you work real tickets, simulated ones or write scenarios from memory
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
