What you'll do

You record yourself doing ordinary chores at home, filmed first-person with your phone strapped to your head. The footage is synchronised video (the required skills mention IMU, the motion sensor data your phone records alongside the picture), and it becomes training data for models that need to learn how people actually use their hands and move around a home.

Onboarding includes a device compatibility check, an AI-run interview and an identity check. After that you record specified physical tasks and submit the video.

Who qualifies

  • You live in one of the listed US states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin or Wyoming
  • You are eligible to work in the US
  • You own an iPhone 12 or later, a Google Pixel 6 to 9, or a Samsung Galaxy S21 or later
  • You are comfortable wearing a phone head mount
  • You can do repetitive physical movement safely

Notably absent from the state list: California, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine and Hawaii, among others. If you live there, this listing is not for you.

What it pays

$13–15 per hour of recorded video that you submit and that meets the project guidelines. That is per hour of usable footage, not per hour of your time: setting up, resetting, and any clip that fails the guidelines are unpaid. Plan on your effective rate being lower than the headline.

On equipment, the ad says you need a head strap and that micro1 will pay a $20 signing bonus and reimbursement once you complete 20 hours of work. The wording is garbled in places, so confirm what the $20 covers before you buy anything.

Privacy note

You are filming inside your home. Think about what ends up in frame (family members, documents, mail, screens, the view from windows) and ask how the footage is stored and used before you start.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • No experience needed beyond a compatible phone
  • Work from home; no hours or schedule are imposed in the ad
  • 50 openings, flagged as high demand
  • Start time depends mainly on how fast the head strap arrives

Less good:

  • Paid per accepted hour of footage, not per hour worked
  • Up-front equipment cost with reimbursement only after 20 hours
  • Identity verification must be completed within 48 hours of being contacted
  • Home footage carries real privacy trade-offs
  • State list excludes several large states
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
