What you'll do
This project tests AI agents, meaning models that carry out multi-step work rather than answer a single question, on everyday finance tasks. The work comes in three parts:
- Write the task. You draft realistic, multi-step finance and business-process prompts modelled on real workflows: the kind of request that lands in a finance team's inbox and touches a spreadsheet, a memo and a slide.
- Write the rubric. For each task you define objective criteria for accuracy, quality and completeness, so two graders would score the same output the same way.
- Grade the agent. You run the agent's responses against your rubric and give structured, actionable feedback.
Tasks are built and reviewed in Microsoft 365, especially Excel, plus Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Everything is documented in written English, and coordination with the project team is asynchronous. The ad describes the project as customer-facing.
Who fits
- A professional background in finance, accounting, FP&A, banking, consulting or a related field
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills, Excel above all
- Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining finance concepts plainly
- Consistency in following detailed evaluation guidelines
- The ability to produce objective, structured assessments on your own
Rubric development, data annotation or AI model evaluation experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement. No prior AI experience is needed. No years of experience, certification (CPA, CFA) or seniority is stated, which makes this one of the more open finance listings on micro1's board.
What it pays
$30–40/hour, micro1's published band. That is well below the firm's specialist finance roles (equity research and rates listings in the same week run from $80 to $300/hour), and it reflects the bar: general finance and Office fluency rather than a front-office track record. No weekly hours, duration or compensation mechanism are published.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Accessible bar: no stated years, certification or seniority
- Rubric writing is a transferable skill for other AI evaluation work
- Fully remote and asynchronous
- 10 openings, flagged as new on the board
Less good:
- Pay is modest next to micro1's specialist finance roles
- Only 10 openings
- Writing tasks and rubrics from scratch is slower than plain review; budget time for it
- No hours, project length or payment terms published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
