What you'll do
Pediatric charts carry information adult records never do, and that is what this project wants checked. You review inpatient records (raw FHIR data and clinical notes) and confirm whether the clinical claims in them are supported, with particular attention to birth and developmental history, immunization status, HPI, PMH, assessments and plans.
The error class the ad singles out is weight-based dosing, along with age-appropriate clinical detail. Anyone who has caught a mg/kg calculation done on last month's weight, or a vital sign flagged as abnormal against the wrong age band, already knows the job. You apply a written guideline consistently, flag what is missing, wrong or inconsistent, and report your findings to the project team (this ad, unlike the internal medicine sibling, explicitly asks for that communication).
Who fits
- MD or DO, board certified in pediatrics (a Pediatric Hospital Medicine subspecialty certification also counts)
- At least five years of hospitalist experience
- Inpatient pediatric hospitalist work within the last two years
- Fluency in admission, daily progress, transition and discharge documentation
- Comfort reading raw medical record data
- Chart review, CDI, utilization review or coding/QA experience is a plus
- A broad patient mix (general pediatrics, newborn nursery, subspecialty co-management, complex chronic conditions) is a plus
What it pays
$80–125/hour as published, paid per task that meets the project specification, with a minimum weekly task count the ad does not state. The band is identical to the internal medicine and family medicine hospitalist listings posted the same week, so pediatric hospitalists are not paid a premium for the narrower specialty. Throughput will decide where you land.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Fifty openings, flagged new and high demand
- A pediatric-specific project, rarer than adult medicine work on these platforms
- Broad general pediatrics or newborn experience counts in your favour
- Remote, with no country restriction stated
Less good:
- Per-task pay, so the hourly figure depends on speed
- Unpublished weekly minimum
- Five years of hospitalist work plus two-year recency is a high bar for a pediatric subspecialty that is relatively young
- No duration or start date stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
