What you'll do

Read the ad carefully before applying, because micro1 spends a paragraph telling certain people not to. There is no roadmap ownership here, no delivery management, no sprint facilitation, no stakeholder leadership and no programme governance. The listing says outright that people whose background is project management, programme management, delivery or scrum leadership should not apply. What it wants is the narrow part of product management that is judgement about documents.

The work itself: you compare AI-generated responses to writing prompts drawn from product work (specifications, release notes, user-facing copy, stakeholder updates), score each on clarity, tone, instruction-following and usefulness to the intended audience, then write the rationale explaining the score.

Two failure modes are named specifically, and they are the ones worth understanding before you start: writing that is fluent but never answers the question, and writing that is complete and correct but wrong for the reader it was aimed at. Factual errors, internal inconsistencies and responses that overshoot or undershoot the prompt's constraints make up the rest of the catch.

That second failure mode is what makes this a product listing rather than a general writing one. Deciding whether a paragraph is pitched for an executive, an engineer or an end user is a call most editors cannot make without product context, and it is the part of the job your CV is being bought for.

What you need

  • Professional experience as a Product Manager or certified Product Owner, with a cross-functional product development record
  • Native-level English and exceptional written communication
  • Extensive experience authoring and evaluating specifications, PRDs, acceptance criteria, release notes or decision documents
  • A demonstrated ability to judge whether content is tailored correctly for executives, technical stakeholders or end users
  • A track record of giving actionable written feedback on technical or user-facing documentation
  • Attention to detail, critical analysis and the discipline to hit remote deadlines unsupervised

Familiarity with model evaluation, RLHF or annotation is a plus and not required. These sit under "preferred qualifications", but the exclusion paragraph is not a preference: a CV that reads as delivery or scrum leadership is the one thing the ad says will not get through.

What it pays

$90–140/hour, micro1's own published figure, and the same band it runs across its other evaluation listings including the Technical Writer / Editor role. That is roughly in line with senior product contracting in the US, and generous relative to how narrow a slice of the discipline the work covers.

The band is $50 wide with no published basis for placement, so plan around $90 until you have an offer. Nothing is said about whether the hourly rate buys your time or is a per-task equivalent, which is worth asking before you accept.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A published band at $90–140/hour for evaluation work rather than delivery accountability
  • Ten openings
  • Location is stated only as remote, with no country list attached
  • No degree requirement and no named-employer filter
  • The scope is unusually explicit, so you know exactly what the engagement is before day one
  • Asynchronous, with no meeting-heavy calendar implied

Less good:

  • The exclusion is broad, and plenty of genuine product people read as "delivery" on paper
  • None of the leadership parts of the job apply, so the engagement builds little you can put on a product CV
  • A $50-wide band with no published basis for placement
  • No project duration, weekly hours or start date stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
  • The customer project is not named

About this listing

Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal, confirmed open on 12 September 2026. The $90–140/hour band, the ten openings, the exclusion of delivery and scrum backgrounds and every qualification above are its own published text for this listing.

Location is given only as remote with no country list, so eligibility is left open here rather than filled with a guess. No pay structure, project duration or weekly hours are published, and the customer is not named. Screening and payment run at the platform level. See micro1.
