What you'll do

You design procurement tasks realistic enough to test an AI agent the way a new buyer would be tested. That covers RFP drafting, bid evaluation, supplier scoring and contract negotiation scenarios.

The raw material is deliberately messy. You create supplier quotations, spec sheets, pricing tables and technical documents in inconsistent formats, because that is what real vendor submissions look like, and then you work out the sourcing recommendation you would actually defend, with its reasoning written out. Each task also gets a detailed grading rubric that an AI grading agent will use to score vendor comparison, contract reasoning and bid analysis.

Tasks should reflect a specific category's quirks (IT, industrial or professional services) rather than generic purchasing. You review and refine tasks with micro1's project team.

Who fits

  • At least 4 years in corporate or public-sector procurement, directly responsible for supplier analysis, bid matrices and contract negotiation
  • Experience comparing non-standard vendor submissions and building detailed comparison matrices
  • Deep category knowledge in IT, industrial or professional-services procurement
  • Excellent written English for technical procurement documents and contract rationale
  • Grounding in procurement practice, regulatory frameworks and supplier evaluation methods
  • Experience building or assessing procurement scenarios or benchmarks is a plus

No AI experience is needed.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published figure. The ad does not state a pay structure, hours or what places you in the band. Many of micro1's other benchmark-style listings are paid per accepted task, so it is worth asking whether this one is too.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Procurement expertise is rarely a direct route into AI training; here it is the whole job
  • Public-sector buyers are explicitly welcome
  • 50 openings, flagged as high demand
  • No AI background needed

Less good:

  • The rate is modest for four-plus years of category procurement experience
  • Pay structure and hours not stated
  • Building believable, inconsistent vendor documents is laborious
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
