  • russian native proficiency
  • english (b2+)
  • attention to detail
  • written communication
  • verbal communication
  • audio evaluation

What you'll do

You are the native ear the model is checked against. You listen to Russian audio clips (sometimes a human speaker, sometimes model output) and decide how native and fluent each one sounds, scoring pronunciation, intonation and linguistic authenticity to the project's guidelines.

Russian has a few classic giveaways that separate a native from a near-miss. Mobile stress is the big one: a synthetic voice that puts the stress of города in the wrong place is instantly foreign to a native listener. Unstressed vowels should reduce (молоко is not three clear os), soft and hard consonants have to stay distinct, and question intonation rides on a single stressed word rather than rising at the end. Your value is spotting those and writing them up clearly.

Each assessment comes with a written English justification, and consistency across clips matters as much as accuracy on any one. You check requirements with coordinators when the guidance is ambiguous and complete assigned review tasks on schedule.

Who fits

  • Native-level Russian, spoken and written
  • English at B2 or higher, particularly in writing
  • A background in linguistics, phonetics, voice work, music or audio engineering is preferred
  • Experience with audio analysis, transcription or linguistic assessment is highly valued
  • Media, communications or teaching experience counts as an asset

These are preferred qualifications, and no AI experience is needed.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published band, the same as its Polish, Tamil, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese bilingual listings on the same template. See the Polish Bilingual Expert listing for the sister role. The ad does not say how placement in the band is decided, and no payment schedule is published.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 100 openings and a "High demand" tag
  • Russian teachers, phoneticians and voice professionals are the obvious fit
  • The $30 floor is solid for evaluation work that needs no equipment
  • No AI experience needed, and no country restriction stated

Less good:

  • More than a 2x spread with no published basis for placement
  • Rating "nativeness" is a judgment call, so the written justifications carry the weight and take time
  • No weekly hours, project length or volume are stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
  • The customer is not named
