What you'll do
You build coding problems for AI models: realistic feature implementations and bug fixes, each paired with a deterministic verifier that accepts any reasonable valid solution and rejects everything else.
This posting is the same kind of work as micro1's Senior Software Engineer (Coding Tasks and Verifiers) listing, and much of the text matches. Two things differ. This one has 100 openings rather than 300, and where the other ad calls out security experience as the big plus, this one names testing: designing test strategy, building and maintaining large test suites, diagnosing flaky tests, or raising a team's testing bar.
That emphasis fits the job. A verifier is a test suite with an unusual brief: it has to pass solutions you did not write and fail ones that only look right. People who have chased flaky tests or argued about what a suite should cover will recognise the problem.
Who fits
- Strong backend experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++ or similar
- A track record building scalable services and APIs
- Comfort with debugging, performance work and automated testing
- Solid code review instincts
Preferred: a record of delivering performant backend projects, of finding and fixing bugs and bottlenecks, of refactoring and building complex features in large codebases, a strong grasp of algorithms and data structures, and clear technical communication.
No prior AI experience is required.
What it pays
The listing shows $30–100 per hour, but the ad says compensation is output-based: you are paid per task that meets the project specification. There is a weekly minimum number of tasks (the number is not given), and time per task depends on your experience and workflow. Your real hourly rate is how many tasks you get accepted in an hour, so ask what a typical task pays before committing.
Commitment and process
- About 15 hours a week, at times and on days you choose, weekends included
- Screening questions, an AI interview of about 30 minutes, a technical assessment (marked tentative) and a hiring manager review
- micro1 asks that the interview and assessment be done without outside help, and the project work too
- Roles are usually filled within 48 hours, and first tasks are expected within 24 to 48 hours of onboarding
Worth knowing
Good:
- 100 openings, so the bar is about quality rather than scarcity
- Flexible hours that fit around a day job
- Testing expertise, often undervalued, is the named advantage here
- No AI background needed
Less good:
- Per-task pay with an unstated weekly minimum; tasks that miss the spec are not paid
- A $30 floor is low for senior backend work
- A technical assessment may be added to the process
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, and tax is yours to handle
