Skills
  • thai native proficiency
  • english (b2+)
  • attention to detail
  • written communication
  • verbal communication
  • audio evaluation

What you'll do

You listen to Thai audio clips, some from human speakers and some produced by a speech model, and judge how native and fluent each one sounds. The criteria are pronunciation, intonation and linguistic authenticity, applied to the project's guidelines, and every rating comes with a written justification in English.

For Thai the most useful thing a native listener brings is tone. A model that gets the consonants and vowels right but lands a rising tone as a mid tone has said a different word, and native listeners notice immediately even when they could not name the tone. Vowel length (short a against long aa), final consonants that should be unreleased, and the particles khrap and kha used correctly for the speaker's gender and register are the other common tells. The skill the project pays for is turning that instinct into a clear English explanation.

You clarify ambiguous guidance with project coordinators and complete assigned review tasks on time and to a consistent standard.

Who fits

  • Native-level Thai, spoken and written
  • English at B2 or higher, especially for written feedback
  • A background in voice, linguistics, phonetics, music or audio engineering is preferred
  • Experience with audio analysis, transcription or linguistic assessment is highly valued
  • Teaching, media or communications experience counts as an asset

Preferred rather than required, and no AI experience needed.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published band. That is a big step up from micro1's Thai Audio Recording Expert listing ($10–30/hour, own studio equipment required): the floor here equals that role's ceiling. The same $30–65 band applies to micro1's other bilingual evaluation listings, including Tamil. The ad does not say what places you in the band, and no payment schedule is published.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • The best-paid Thai work in this micro1 set, with no equipment cost
  • 100 openings and a "High demand" tag
  • Thai teachers, interpreters and voice professionals fit naturally
  • No country restriction stated

Less good:

  • More than a 2x spread with no published basis for placement
  • Explaining tone errors in English is harder than hearing them, and the write-up is the job
  • No weekly hours, project length or volume are stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
  • The customer is not named
