What you'll do
This is production work, not annotation. You edit and assemble 3D and CGI video, with motion graphics, animation and visual effects layered in to tell the story clearly, for educational and robotics-focused media. Audio editing and audiovisual compositing are part of finishing each piece.
The AI angle is the destination: the finished videos are prepared and optimised as training assets for machine learning. That makes file organisation and a disciplined post-production workflow part of the job, because assets have to be traceable and consistent across a dataset. You iterate on client feedback and keep up with current tools and techniques.
Any of the major editing tools will do: Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer.
Who fits
- Extensive professional experience editing 3D/CGI and animation-based content
- Proficiency in at least one of the tools above, for both video and audio
- Visual storytelling, animation and motion graphics skills; the ad also lists computer vision for media projects
- Strong written and spoken communication in remote, asynchronous teams
- Well-organised project files and post-production workflow
- A record of taking feedback and delivering polished work on deadline
- A bachelor's degree in any field, which the ad makes a requirement
What it pays
$40–80/hour, micro1's published band. No compensation structure is stated, so it is unclear whether the rate is per hour worked or an equivalent of a per-deliverable fee. Ask, because CGI edits vary enormously in how long they take.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Real editing and motion work that builds a reel
- Tool-agnostic: bring your own suite
- One hundred openings
- No country restriction named on the ad
- No AI experience needed
Less good:
- A bachelor's degree is required, which excludes self-taught editors regardless of portfolio
- "Extensive" CGI experience is undefined
- 3D/CGI editing needs capable hardware, which you supply
- No pay structure, hours or project length published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
