Skills
  • vietnamese native proficiency
  • english (b2+)
  • attention to detail
  • written communication
  • verbal communication
  • audio evaluation

What you'll do

You evaluate Vietnamese speech. Each clip, whether a person speaking or a model generating audio, gets a rating for how native and fluent it sounds, based on pronunciation, intonation and linguistic authenticity as the guidelines define them, and a written justification in English.

Vietnamese is a demanding language for speech models. Northern Vietnamese distinguishes six tones and the south effectively merges two of them, so a voice can be "correct" for one region and plainly off for another; the ad does not say which variety the project targets, and that is worth asking early. Beyond tones, listeners notice mismatched regional features (the northern z against the southern y for written d and gi), clipped final consonants and the flat, word-by-word rhythm of weak synthetic speech.

You work with project coordinators when guidance is unclear, keep your ratings consistent from clip to clip, and complete assigned review tasks on time.

Who fits

  • Native-level Vietnamese, spoken and written
  • English at B2 or above, especially for written feedback
  • A background in voice, linguistics, phonetics, music or audio engineering is preferred
  • Experience with audio analysis, transcription or linguistic assessment is highly valued
  • Media, communications or teaching experience is an asset

All preferred rather than required; no AI experience needed.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published band. It matches micro1's other bilingual evaluation listings exactly, including Thai and Turkish. The ad publishes no basis for placement within the band and no payment schedule.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 100 openings and a "High demand" tag
  • No studio equipment needed, unlike micro1's recording roles
  • Vietnamese teachers, interpreters and voice professionals are a strong fit
  • No country restriction stated

Less good:

  • More than a 2x band with no published placement criteria
  • The target regional variety is not specified
  • Written English justifications are required for every rating, so the work is slower than listening alone
  • No weekly hours, project length or volume are stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
  • The customer is not named
