What you'll do

Japanese speakers who are comfortable working in English are the audience here. You read lengthy content, divide it into smaller logical blocks, summarise it, check its claims through online research, and use a language model to work on puzzles. Then you create scenarios where models tend to go wrong and write the correct answer and explanation so the model can learn.

The ad's examples are working out which location's sales grew most from a monthly distribution (pick the period, decide whether to discount early swings) and a postman puzzle with ordering rules over four neighbourhoods. The ad does not state how much of the work is done in Japanese.

Who fits

  • English and Japanese, both mandatory
  • Good research and analytical skills, creative and lateral thinking
  • Constructive feedback and detailed annotations
  • Independent in a remote setting, with a desktop or laptop and a good connection
  • Up to 40 hours a week preferred, overlapping US hours

Preferred: a degree in engineering, literature, journalism, communications, arts, statistics or related (or equivalent experience), professional writing background, Excel and Google Suite, and data interpretation and basic arithmetic. No other specialised domain experience is needed.

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate; Turing sets rates per project. See Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • No domain expertise needed beyond analytical habits
  • Remote, with possible extension depending on performance and project needs
  • Experience can stand in for a degree

Less good:

  • The required overlap with UTC-8 (America/Los_Angeles), 2 to 5 hours a day, falls in the early morning or the middle of the night in Japan, so check your schedule before applying
  • Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
  • No contract length, rate or assessment steps in the ad

About this listing

Posted by Turing on 4 December 2025 and read on 18 October 2026. Turing lists a second Japanese business analyst role, so the title carries a detail from this ad. Requirements and terms are Turing's; the scheduling note is ours. See Turing.
