How it works
Crossing Hurdles does two things. For most roles it acts as a network that points contributors to opportunities at AI labs, research platforms and enterprise teams; selection and communication for those roles are handled by the partner platform. Separately, it runs its own paid recording projects through an application portal. For those you apply for a specific project (for example a residential or commercial video recording project for a given region), and only approved recording hours are paid. Applying is free and open to people aged 18 and over. Selection and ongoing work are not guaranteed.
Worth knowing
Good:
- There is no application or recruitment fee
- Each recording project lists its own per-hour rate and requirements before you apply
- The equipment headband for the two US projects is reimbursed after 10 successful hours, according to the application page
Less good:
- Setup time, waiting and rejected recordings are not paid; only approved hours count
- You need a compatible smartphone and a head-mounted phone holder, and commercial projects require access to an eligible active workplace
- Project availability changes: some regional projects are closed to new applicants, and the figures on the main site and the application portal differed when we checked
- The company does not say whether contributors on managed projects are employed or contracted by Crossing Hurdles or by the client, and it does not state a payment method or payout schedule
About this page
Facts come from crossinghurdles.com and its application portal, last checked 23 October 2026. The pay range in the grid reflects the lowest and highest per-approved-hour project rates shown on the application portal at that time ($8–16); rates differ by project and region and should be confirmed on the project page. Payment method, payout timing and pay for partner-platform roles are not published, so those are not shown. Compare Invisible Technologies for other project-based expert work.
