German is the most listed second language here

Of the 185 listings on this site that need a language other than English, 17 ask for German, more than any other language. Spanish has 16; French, Japanese and Portuguese have 15 each. You can see them all on the German jobs page.

They come from three platforms: Mercor with 8, micro1 with 5 and Invisible Technologies with 4. Taking the midpoint of each listing's range, the median is $30 an hour, and the listings run from $10 to $190 an hour.

German is priced well on market-tiered roles

Some Mercor templates set a different rate for each language. On those, German sits near the top: the German Sonic Audit role pays $41.50, against $18 for Hindi on the same template, as our guide to which languages pay what sets out. On flat-rate templates such as Invisible's, German earns the same as any other language.

Where you need to live

13 of the 17 listings carry no country restriction. Four do. The German voice cloning role is open only to residents of Germany and the Swiss German one only to residents of Switzerland. The two physician roles are limited to the United States.

micro1 also lists Swiss German separately: a Swiss German transcription role at $25 to $30. If you speak a regional variety, check whether a listing wants it or standard German before you apply.
