How it works

Luel describes itself as a multimodal lab building a data engine to train AI systems to listen, reason and act. Contributors sign up through the "Start earning" button on its site, find a task, upload their content and are paid after approval. Tasks on its Contribute page include recording unscripted conversations with people you know, filming a first-person walkthrough and capturing CAD modeling sessions. Luel runs a Discord community for help with uploads, payouts and approvals.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Task rates are shown up front on the Contribute page: for example $12 an hour for one English conversation task, $7.50 an hour for several language audio tasks, $30 per clip for CAD capture and $25 for one walkthrough task
  • No specialist background is stated for the example tasks

Less good:

  • Rates are per task and low for some audio work; there is no single typical rate, so the pay fields are left empty
  • Luel does not state which countries can join or which payment methods it uses
  • Conversation and video tasks involve recording yourself and people you know, so check the consent terms of each task before uploading

Similar capture-style work is covered on the Claru page.
