What is golden answer?
A model answer written by an expert to be the reference everything else is graded against. Also called a gold standard response.
A golden answer is a response written by an expert to be the reference standard for a prompt. Other answers, from models or from other trainers, are graded against it, and it is often used directly as training data.
What makes an answer golden
It is correct in every detail, complete, follows the style guide exactly, and handles the edge cases a weaker answer would miss. Golden answers are usually reviewed by a second expert before they are accepted.
Where you meet them
SFT projects ask you to write golden answers. Evaluation projects may show you one to compare the model against. Quality teams also use golden answers as hidden gold tasks to measure trainers' accuracy.
Example
For the prompt "When can a landlord keep a tenant's deposit?", the golden answer lists the lawful reasons, the written-notice requirement and the deadline for returning the rest, and notes that the rules vary by jurisdiction.
