What finance AI training work involves

Finance AI training jobs pay bankers, analysts, accountants and underwriters to judge and improve how AI models handle financial work. On 29 September 2026 this site listed 110 roles under Business & Finance, out of 699 listings in total. That filter also covers sales, consulting, marketing and operations. 56 of the listings are finance proper (finance, accounting, insurance or economics), and those are the subject of this guide.

Most of the work is one of two things.

Building the test. Mercor's finance listings typically ask you to design a realistic scenario, produce what a strong team would hand over, and write the rubric that grades a model's attempt. Its FP&A Expert listing covers budget cycles, variance analysis and capital budgeting this way, at $80–90 an hour. Its insurance listings, such as underwriting at a flat $80, do the same for risk selection, exclusions and pricing.

Making and marking the work product. micro1's Investment Banking Expert builds comps, valuation models and pitchbook-style pages, then critiques sample material for numerical errors and weak logic, at $175–300. At the other end, micro1's Excel Specialist opens two model-generated files, judges them against professional standards and records which is better, at $20–60.

Some listings are more unusual. Mercor's equity research role asks former sell-side analysts to forecast when a named analyst will publish after a catalyst, and what the note will say.

What it pays

55 of the 56 quote an hourly rate, from $20 to $350, with a median midpoint of $85 an hour. Pay tracks seniority and where you worked more than the subject. The top listings (investment banking, equity research, executive presentation review) want former associates, VPs or lead analysts from recognisable firms, and advertise $150 and up. Accounting, audit, insurance and FP&A roles mostly cluster between $60 and $100. Spreadsheet and business-document roles open to a wider pool pay $20–60.

Who qualifies

Experience counts for more than certificates. Most listings ask for years in a named seat: five years as an FP&A leader, two years in underwriting, a senior associate or VP on an M&A team. Designations appear often but mostly as a plus: the CPA is mentioned in 18 of the 56 listings, the CFA in 8 and the MBA in 9. Excel comes up in 20.

Residence matters more than in most fields. 21 of the 56 restrict applicants by country, mainly to the US. Mercor posts 36 of these roles and micro1 20.
