What you'll do
This is project-based evaluation work for graduate students, not a standing job in one subject. You use the expertise from coursework, lab work and field research to assess, write and validate content in your own discipline for an AI evaluation research project.
The ad lists the tasks: assess materials for accuracy, depth and quality as a trained specialist would, find errors, ambiguities or gaps a non-expert would miss, and give a structured written rationale for each decision. It also expects you to interpret visual or diagrammatic content from your field (examples given: schematics, spectra, maps, clinical images, artworks, data charts). Each project window has a defined set of annotation tasks, quoted as 10 to 20 hours a week of work.
Who qualifies
- Currently enrolled in a PhD, Master's, MD or MD/PhD program
- Clear, well-reasoned written explanations of domain-specific judgments, and strong English writing
- Deep familiarity with the visual conventions and technical vocabulary of your discipline
- Reliable internet access and availability for asynchronous remote work
Preferred: candidacy stage or beyond (or MS3/MS4 and clinical rotations underway), research involving image-based or visual data, prior annotation or AI evaluation experience, affiliation with a top research university, familiarity with AI tools and multimodal systems, and quantitative methods training.
What it pays
The board headlines $100 an hour. The ad itself words pay differently: $800 to $1,500 per project week, depending on discipline and seniority, with top candidates eligible for premium rates. Those two figures are not reconciled in the ad, so treat the per-project-week figure as the one the text commits to. The ad does not say how payment is made or how often.
You choose which projects to accept. The estimated commitment is up to 10 hours a week for each project window you take on.
Worth knowing
Good:
- You accept only the projects that fit your schedule
- Work is asynchronous and built around academic commitments
- Substantive expert evaluation rather than generic labeling, per the ad
- No specific discipline is excluded
Less good:
- Enrollment is required; this role is not open once you have graduated
- Pay is quoted per project week, and the ad gives no payment method or schedule
- The ad's own hour figures differ (up to 10 hours a week in one place, 10 to 20 in another), so ask what a project window really involves
- Work is assigned project by project, so steady hours are not promised

About this listing
Read from the AfterQuery Experts board on 18 October 2026, listed in its Humanities department and posted 26 June 2026. The ad does not describe its hiring steps; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and identity verification for expert pools, covered on the company page.
