What you'll do
A six-week, start-now evaluation sprint for a leading AI lab's health models. You read what the model says about diagnosis, case reasoning and care workflows, and decide whether a clinician should trust it.
The tasks named in the ad:
- Evaluating outputs for clinical accuracy, safety and alignment with medical standards
- Scoring diagnoses, case reasoning and care recommendations against expert judgment
- Writing structured feedback on clarity, safety and clinical rigour
- Flagging failure modes that put patients at risk
- Working asynchronously with the lab's AI researchers
The list of specialties tells you what the lab is testing: primary care, internal medicine, emergency and critical care are the front doors patients and clinicians are most likely to bring a health model to. Expect undifferentiated presentations rather than subspecialty puzzles, and expect the safety questions (when to escalate, what not to miss) to carry the most weight.
Who fits
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Active, unrestricted US medical licence
- Residency complete and currently practising, seeing patients
- Practice in primary care, general internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine or critical care
- Sharp attention to detail and clear written communication
- Located in the US
3+ years post-residency in your current role is strongly preferred, not required.
Onboarding is spelled out more than usual: resume and form, a 25-minute conversational interview, credential verification (licence status, residency completion, current practice setting), then roster placement confirmed with the project team before you start. Next steps are promised within a few days.
What it pays
$150 per hour, flat. At the 20-hour weekly minimum over six weeks that is at least $18,000 before tax if the hours hold. The same rate as Mercor's broader General Clinician pool, which accepts any specialty and previously practising physicians; this one is narrower but has a defined end date. Primary care physicians should also compare the $170 documentation review role, which asks for half the weekly hours.
Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, and you are engaged as an independent contractor. Mercor cannot support H-1B or STEM OPT candidates.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Clear scope, start date and duration
- Transparent onboarding with credential checks named up front
- Flat $150/hour with no band
- Fully remote and asynchronous
Less good:
- 20+ hours a week for six weeks is heavy alongside clinical work
- Current practice and an active US licence are hard requirements
- Five specialty groups only; other specialists are out
- H-1B and STEM OPT holders excluded
- Projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
About this listing
Posted by Mercor as an hourly remote contract for US-located physicians, for an unnamed AI lab. The $150 rate, six-week timeline, 20-hour commitment and requirements are the ad's own. See Mercor.
