What you'll do
You review outpatient clinical notes, encounter summaries and EHR documentation for accuracy, completeness and clinical soundness, then evaluate AI-generated notes and summaries against what a practising physician would actually have written. That second standard is the harder one and it is the reason the project wants people still in clinic rather than reviewers.
Alongside that you annotate outpatient encounter data against detailed guidelines, flag omissions, hallucinations, clinical inaccuracies and documentation gaps, and write structured feedback that engineering and product teams can act on. You also contribute to the annotation guidelines, documentation standards and edge-case definitions themselves, and raise clarifying questions where the guidance is ambiguous rather than guessing.
The language requirement is the unusual part. Beyond English you need advanced proficiency (C1 or above) in speaking, listening and writing in one of six languages. The ad asks pointedly that you answer the language question accurately rather than optimistically, because you will be reading clinical material and writing structured feedback. Clinical documentation vocabulary in a second language is a specific skill, quite separate from conversational fluency. If you have never charted in that language, say so.
What you need
- MD or DO, currently practising in an outpatient or ambulatory setting, any specialty. The ad names endocrinology, infectious disease, dermatology, sports medicine, oncology and cardiology as examples, and says other specialty outpatient practices qualify too
- US-based
- Direct experience writing clinical notes in an outpatient setting
- Advanced proficiency (C1 or above) in speaking, listening and writing in at least one of: Czech, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, Vietnamese or Finnish
- A minimum availability of 10 hours a week
Preferred rather than required: two or more years of clinical practice post-residency, familiarity with Epic, experience with clinical documentation quality review, note auditing or CDI, prior AI or ML annotation or model evaluation work, and experience documenting patient care in a language other than English.
What it pays
$170–190 per hour, Mercor's own published figure rather than an estimate of ours.
The band is only $20 wide, which is worth noting on a board where $50 and $80 spreads are normal: a narrow band means the published number is close to the number you get, and there is little guesswork about where you land. At the stated 10-hour weekly minimum, that is roughly $1,700 to $1,900 a week.
Payment is weekly via Stripe or Wise, per Mercor's contract terms, and you are engaged as an independent contractor.
Worth knowing
Good:
- $170–190/hour on a narrow $20 band, so the published figure means something
- Any outpatient specialty qualifies, so no particular field is required
- Ten hours a week, flexible, explicitly designed around an active clinical practice
- The language requirement narrows the field enormously in your favour. A US outpatient physician with C1 Czech, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, Vietnamese or Finnish is competing against a very small pool
- You shape the guidelines and edge-case definitions as well as apply them
- No prior AI experience required
Less good:
- Six languages and no others, regardless of how fluent you are in something else
- You must be currently practising, so this is closed to retired or fully non-clinical physicians
- US-based only, and H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported
- Ten hours a week on top of a clinical week is a real commitment, whatever the flexibility
- Projects can be extended, shortened or concluded early depending on need and performance, so hours are not guaranteed
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to set aside
- The healthcare AI partner is not named, so you cannot know whose documentation tool your judgements shape
About this listing
Posted by Mercor on behalf of an unnamed healthcare AI partner, restricted to the United States, confirmed open on 12 September 2026. The $170–190 band, the six-language list, the 10-hour weekly minimum and every qualification above are the ad's own published text.
Mercor states that the work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client or institution. For a practising physician, read that as the constraint it is: your own patients' records and your institution's documentation are out of scope, whatever the project asks for. Payment and onboarding run at the platform level. See Mercor.
