What you'll do

Record roughly four hours of scripted French so a Mercor client (a "leading AI research lab", not named) can build a synthetic copy of your voice for its internal "CX AI Agent". Scripts span conversational, narrative and instructional styles, with alternate takes for emotion and emphasis. A second session of similar length may be offered later; it is not guaranteed.

In this variant you must be a native Canadian French speaker living in Canada, yet the delivery the client wants is international French, neutral and without a strong regional accent. In other words the client wants someone rooted in the Canadian market who can sound like a broadcast or dubbing voice. Quebec dubbing and radio professionals do exactly this switch daily; if you have only ever spoken with a Québécois accent, test yourself honestly before applying.

Who fits

  • Native Canadian French speaker, currently based in Canada
  • Able to deliver neutral international French without a strong regional accent
  • A clear, expressive voice; acting or narration experience is a plus, not a requirement
  • A near-professional home setup: good microphone, pop filter, quiet room
  • Strong intonation and diction, and accuracy to the script
  • About four hours for one session, possibly more later

Preferred: TTS, audiobook, IVR or AI voice dataset experience, audio editing in Audacity, Adobe Audition or Reaper, and range from conversational to corporate to calm.

What it pays

A flat $50 per hour: a single figure, not a range. That makes it about $200 for the stated session. Every other variant in Mercor's CX voice cloning family starts at $50 and rises to $100 or $150, including the Standard French listing, which has no location limit and pays $50–100. If you also qualify for that one, compare before you apply. Payment is weekly via Stripe or Wise, in US dollars.

What you are licensing

Permission for the client to clone your voice. The ad's safeguard is a usage limit: the recordings serve only the client's internal CX AI agent and will not be sold, licensed or reused elsewhere. It does not say who the client is, how long the clone may be used, whether you can withdraw, or whether ongoing use earns anything beyond the session fee. Around $200 is a small payment for an open-ended voice licence, so get the contract terms before recording.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Open to newcomers with a good voice and setup
  • One defined session of about four hours
  • The recordings are limited in writing to one internal agent
  • Weekly Stripe or Wise payment

Less good:

  • Your voice may be cloned, and the ad mentions no payment for continued use
  • The ad says little about how the voice will be used: no client, no duration, no withdrawal right
  • Flat $50/hour, the lowest rate in the family, with no band to move up
  • Requires both Canadian residency and a neutral international accent
  • Paid in USD, so conversion to CAD costs something
  • Independent contractor; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded
