- attention to detail
- following instructions
What you'll do
This is a one-time data contribution, not an ongoing job. You gather photos and videos of yourself that already exist on your phone or camera, strip out filters and edits, and upload them:
- 30 selfies
- 10 video recordings
- All taken within the past five years, unedited
You then follow any feedback on your submission and report problems. The ad describes the purpose only as training AI; the associated sibling listings speak of facial recognition systems, which is the likely use.
Who qualifies
- Aged 50 or older, with no upper limit. micro1 says this is a representation requirement of the project, not a judgment of ability
- Clear selfies and videos already on hand, taken with a smartphone or camera
- Able to follow instructions carefully and work alone
No experience of any kind is needed. The practical filter is whether you have enough unfiltered footage of yourself spread over five years; people who rarely take selfies may struggle to reach 30.
What it pays
micro1's listing card shows $139–140/hour, but the ad's own compensation section says you receive a one-time payment after submitting the required photos and videos. Those two statements do not fit together cleanly, and the ad does not state the payment amount. Read the hourly figure as a rough signal of how quickly the work can be done, and confirm the actual sum before you upload anything.
Your face is the product
Once your face is in a biometric training set, it is very hard to withdraw. Before submitting, ask:
- Which customer receives the images and what the model is for
- How long the data is kept and whether you can request deletion
- Whether other people appearing in your photos need to be cropped out
The ad answers none of these.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No skills test, no experience bar and very little time
- Uses material you already have
- 5,000 openings, so capacity is not the constraint
- Open to people over 50, an age group most AI data work does not target
Less good:
- A one-off payment of unstated size, not recurring income
- Hands over facial biometric data with no retention or deletion terms published
- The hourly figure on the card conflicts with the one-time payment wording
- You need five years of unfiltered selfies and video
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal about two weeks before we read it on 24 September 2026, marked high demand. The 30/10 submission counts, the age rule and the one-time payment wording are micro1's text. No country restriction is stated. Sister listings target siblings, twins and specific ethnic groups for the same collection. See micro1.
