What you'll do

You play the demanding colleague. Drawing on your own work history, you design business tasks that would land on someone's desk at a large company (a three-statement model, a board deck, a strategic proposal, a data-driven report) and hand them to language models in multi-turn conversations. Then you compare several model responses, decide which is best and why, and write assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of each.

The value is in the realism of the tasks. The client wants to know whether a model can produce a deliverable a manager would actually accept, which takes more than formatting a pivot table. So the best tasks carry the messy constraints of real work: incomplete data, a stakeholder with a strong view, a deadline-driven shortcut that would be wrong.

Work is asynchronous, coordinated with project staff who check that your scenarios are authentic and useful.

Who fits

All listed as preferred:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on business experience in finance, healthcare, consulting, tech, retail or similar
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word: complex models, reports, presentations and analyses
  • Direct experience in strategy, operations, sales, marketing, finance or HR in a Fortune 500 setting
  • A knack for designing nuanced, high-stakes business scenarios
  • Clear written feedback and rationale
  • Prompting experience with language models is a plus, not a requirement

What it pays

$35–50/hour, micro1's published band. It is a narrow band (the top is less than 1.5x the bottom), which suggests less guesswork about placement than most micro1 listings. No compensation structure, weekly hours or project length is stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 100 openings
  • A narrow, predictable pay band
  • Uses everyday office skills that many business professionals already have at depth
  • Asynchronous work

Less good:

  • The ceiling is lower than the similar Excel Specialist listing's $60, though that one starts at $20
  • Fortune 500 experience is part of the preferred profile, which narrows the pool
  • No hiring steps, hours or duration published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
