What you'll do
The footage comes from robotic systems, and your job is to turn it into clean training data. You label objects, movements and events precisely, spot anomalies, and keep careful records of how the annotations were made.
Where this differs from the other robotics video roles micro1 is filling is the protocol side. You work with the AI development team on how annotation should be done, take part in periodic accuracy reviews, settle ambiguous cases, and suggest changes to how video is captured or labelled based on patterns you see in the data. That is dataset design work, and it is the part that calls for real knowledge of computer vision.
Who fits
Listed as preferred:
- Real expertise in computer vision concepts and methods, with hands-on video analysis or annotation
- Familiarity with video labelling and dataset preparation tools
- Good written and spoken communication, including documenting findings
- Consistency and care in annotation quality
- Independent, reliable remote working
- Robotics or autonomous systems experience, as a bonus
- Willingness to adapt as annotation standards change
What it pays
$50–90/hour, micro1's published band, the same as its Senior AI Trainer (Robotics Video Annotation) and Video Annotation Specialist roles. The ad does not say what places you within the range. If your CV is CV-heavy (tracking, detection, dataset curation), this is the listing that names that skill set directly.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 300 openings and a "High demand" tag
- Input into annotation protocols, not only labelling
- Computer vision engineers between roles, and ML researchers with dataset experience, fit well
- No AI training background needed beyond the CV knowledge itself
Less good:
- For a working CV engineer, $50–90/hour is below typical industry rates, so treat it as flexible side work
- Much of the time will still be hands-on labelling
- Weekly hours, project length and customer are not published
- Contractor terms, with no benefits
