What you'll do
You turn Danish audio into accurate text and then label it. The transcription has to capture what was actually said, with the nuance the ad asks for, which in Danish means hearing the difference between what a speaker pronounced and what the standard spelling suggests (the soft d, swallowed endings and stød do not make that easy). Annotation follows detailed project guidelines, so expect rules for hesitations, overlaps, background noise and unclear passages.
Part of the work is quality control rather than first-pass transcription: you verify transcripts for consistency and completeness and correct or improve audio data sets inside micro1's workflow tools. You also have a say in the annotation schema as the project evolves and are expected to feed back on the process itself.
Who fits
- Native-level Danish with a sharp ear
- Professional or research experience transcribing and annotating Danish audio
- The patience to catch small errors and inconsistencies in spoken content
- Familiarity with transcription tools or audio data collection protocols
- The ability to follow detailed, changing guidelines precisely
- Good organisation and communication for remote teamwork
Everything above is listed as preferred rather than required, and the ad says plainly that no AI experience is needed. Prior machine learning data work is a plus, not a condition.
What it pays
$24–30/hour, micro1's published band. It is a narrow band, so the floor is close to the real rate. That sits in line with micro1's Dutch Transcription Expert listing at $25–30 and well above its German transcription band. The ad does not say whether pay is per hour worked or per audio minute delivered, which matters a lot in transcription, where difficult audio can take many times its length.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Danish is a small market for AI data work, so native speakers face less competition than on the big European languages
- No AI experience needed
- A tight, predictable band
- Some input into the schema and process alongside the transcription
Less good:
- Transcription is slow, exacting work; poor-quality audio drags down your effective rate if pay turns out to be per unit
- Only 10 openings
- No hours, project length or start date published
- No country list; the ad says only Remote
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
